This one was so on the money in every way and it could have been about any one of us. Most times I feel like we're sitting in front of a fireplace, glass in hand, and hashing over our lives -- love it tons and tons. Now I notice the date on your post, and it was Sept 2012. Today is July 2013 and almost a year later. You're getting as bad as I am. Come on, POST!
Oh, by the way, I got an e from Miz Angie about 2 weeks ago. She's still around but not blogging, either. I wish she'd not deleted her old one.
On this end, last month hurled myself to the floor in the fall of a lifetime and broke my foot, sprained my ankle, hip, and back. I swear I think someone stood up and held a scorecard with a 10 on it. Still hobblin' and moaning away, but I'll heal eventually.
Hope you see that I was here and looking for you. You're still my old buddy even if we aren't keeping up -- you're tops in my book ;) (Should I add your all time favorite "lol" to that? Ha, just kidding) Sending a big old smoocheroo~~JennyDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14329171741191991379noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854090250820154334.post-44427159682734050012013-04-08T00:25:56.229-04:002013-04-08T00:25:56.229-04:00An interesting discussion is worth comment. Thanks.

@Ah Flooz, my oldest devotee - I always love to hear from you: I imagine you with a permanent worry frown upon your visage. In the end, it doesn't matter what really happened, only what we remember, because that is the story in which we dwell. The only use for a correction of facts is when it would make something that was hurtful less so. That one detail can change things for the better as well as for the worse, although somehow I doubt you will agree. I hope you let NOTHING stop you when you are in the thrall of writing - I only wish you found yourself there more often. Made me somewhat unwilling to hear more because one small detail can change EVERYTHING important to you, or what you think makes you you. But will not let that stop me when in the thrall of a writing session. Loved this post, David--as I always do.floozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14889482633231509161noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854090250820154334.post-89618022611778554722012-09-11T16:35:15.332-04:002012-09-11T16:35:15.332-04:00Fine post: I think your point about the reliabilit...Fine post: I think your point about the reliability of history, and the mythic rewriting that goes on, is very salient.Sultanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06506141014376919585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854090250820154334.post-5609263751810402132012-09-10T22:51:41.661-04:002012-09-10T22:51:41.661-04:00@Rita - It depends on the relative! People are so much more complicated than stories allow. And yes, I am pretty sure that much of the tale is true. Just not the religious retribution aspect. By the way, the great grandfather, who was almost a midget, looks so much like me (who am average in height) in our photo of him with his Civil War medal, that many people believe that photo IS of me. I am just as grouchy, too.DavidShaghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02378015294494222646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854090250820154334.post-88561964673778619272012-09-10T21:22:09.149-04:002012-09-10T21:22:09.149-04:00Wow! Family histories can be as colored and prejudiced as any country's. All we can do is cling to our own recollections. They are the truth for us...and the truth is relative. ;)Ritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02043285884495492598noreply@blogger.com
