After several days' dearth of pure sunlight, the central Iowa skies are blue and bright--and so is my disposition. Hence, my further delight to learn that your frame of mind has been happier, too.

Great minds thinking alike..?

Being somewhat ornithologically-challened, I wouldn't know a wintered-over goldfinch from a little sputsie. Didn't know the little guys--and gals--turned brown during the cold months; I assumed they wintered away.

Your mention of the flowers a-bloomin' made me smile, as a little clutch of snowdrops is bravely blossoming through a patch of melty sow to the south of my house; I watch for their return every year--it keeps me going when the gloom of winter overtakes me and leaves me whiney and blue.

Ah...so my gentle chiding bestirred you to pen an update, dear soul? Don't worry--I won't let it go to my head. I'm just delighted that you've been happier in recent weeks; makes me happy to know it.

I missed you.

The presence of good souls makes life a little easier as the world around us tumbles into chaos. Cookies, soup and a blooming hyacinth plant are more precious than gold, made so by the kind heart of a friend; I'm glad there is such a person in your circle of acquaintence.

Your retelling of your experiece as a jurist was riveting. I have never served in that capacity and wonder if I would function well; my memory of verbal narrative has never been great, and if instructed to forget something mentioned in the course of a trial, I don't know if I could do it. Kinda like telling a child not to do something and they end up doing it, anyway.

The forensic aspect of crime-solving intrigues me, but learning about it on programs such as C.S.I and N.C.I.S--however imperfectly--affords me some buffer against the harsher reality of it. To see an actual victim of a brutal crime...I don't know...it hurts me to even think about it.

I won't ask about the verdict.

Do enjoy the bright day whilst it's there, David; as a lifelong Iowan, I've accustomed myself to changeable weather and the likelihood of plans I've made being subsequently un-made by capricious Ma Nature.

So it goes...

I wish for you the same smile which I am smiling now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7854090250820154334.post-17486299220712681282011-03-11T13:07:07.433-05:002011-03-11T13:07:07.433-05:00Please change the spelling to served. I have surved ...Great to see a post from you David.
I have surved on the federal jury once (a drug case) and a local jury once (drunk driving.) I found both times a rewarding experience, although inconvenient because the federal case meant a 90 mile round trip to the federal court house.
It is a beautiful day here too. Enjoy!!Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12020604933621899108noreply@blogger.com
